Ivan Mbowa

Ivan Mbowa is a seasoned finance professional with over two decades of experience driving financial innovation and structuring blended finance solutions across Africa. As a Senior Financing Expert, Ivan is at the forefront of designing and implementing innovative financing models that address critical socio-economic challenges. He contributes to key EDIC initiatives, leveraging his expertise to develop scalable solutions for youth employment and entrepreneurship.

Ivan co-founded Umati Capital, a fintech company providing working capital solutions to small and medium enterprises in Kenya. He also served as the General Manager for Tala in Africa, where he led regional operations for the global fintech, scaling its impact across multiple markets. At Fidelity Bank Ghana, Ivan set up and managed a fintech subsidiary to drive digital financial services growth. Earlier in his career, he held senior roles at Citibank, where he spearheaded business growth strategies across several African markets.

Ivan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics & International Relations from Tufts University, Massachusetts. Based in Nairobi, Kenya, he is passionate about using finance as a tool to catalyze social impact and economic growth across the continent.
